The Sardinian Church is mourning the death of Monsignor Giuseppe Luxoro , parish priest of the Collegiate Church of San Giacomo in Cagliari for over 30 years.

He was born in Carloforte in 1950. He was ordained a priest in the Cathedral of Cagliari in June 1974.

Don Beppe, as he was known to the faithful, was an educator at the archiepiscopal seminary, parish priest in Villanovatulo from 1977 to 1984, and then became spiritual guide in Samatzai, at the church of San Giovanni Battista. His pastoral journey continued in Serrenti, where he led the parish of the Blessed Virgin Immaculate. In 1992, he arrived in Cagliari to take up the post of parish priest at San Giacomo. Over the course of 30 years, he supported and nurtured the church community. His contribution has never wavered. In the parish of Villanova, he has always cultivated relationships with the neighborhood confraternities that preserve the ancient rites of Holy Week. Since 1996, he has been chaplain to His Holiness. He has remained tenaciously attached to his Carlofortine roots.

Before his health deteriorated, he had presided over the liturgical celebration in the Basilica of Bonaria in the presence of a large representation of faithful who had arrived from Carloforte.
