Cagliari, Carabinieri conduct major anti-drug operation: two major criminal groups dismantled

They ran a huge international drug trafficking ring , especially cocaine and heroin, and also had weapons at their disposal.

Two large criminal gangs have been uncovered by the Carabinieri of the Cagliari provincial command in Sardinia and other regions : since this morning, well before dawn , more than 400 officers have been carrying out 71 restrictive measures, most of them in prison.
The investigation, dubbed "Termine," began in 2022 and continued until 2024 thanks to the work of the Carabinieri of the Carbonia operational unit under the close coordination of the Cagliari District Anti-Mafia Directorate.

During the investigation , arrests were made, along with the seizure of large quantities of drugs and the recovery of weapons and cash . The areas involved, in addition to Cagliari and Sulcis Iglesiente, are Nuoro, Oristano, Sassari, Rome, Pisa, Biella, Vicenza, and Macerata . In addition to the Carabinieri of the territorial units, the Sardinian Hunters and the Canine Units were deployed, and the helicopter of the 11th Unit from Cagliari was deployed.
At 11 a.m., a press conference will be held at the Cagliari Public Prosecutor's Office. Further details on the ongoing operation, which includes numerous searches, will be released.
