They spotted him lurking suspiciously among the parked vehicles in Piazza Marco Polo, Cagliari. He was riding a valuable bicycle, so the Carabinieri from the San Bartolomeo station decided to stop him to investigate.

The young man, a thirty-year-old Algerian with no fixed abode, had just stolen the bike from a camper owned by a 76-year-old man originally from Cagliari but resident in Venice.

The vehicle was recovered and returned to its owner, while the Algerian man was taken to the police station and held in holding cells pending a fast-track hearing.
