Staff at Sogaer, the company that manages Cagliari-Elmas Airport, are holding a four-hour strike from today until May 19th.
The announcement comes from the unions Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl, and Uiltrasporti , following the negative outcome of a meeting held at the Prefecture with the company. According to the unions, the meeting once again highlighted the lack of concrete answers on the issues at the heart of the dispute: performance bonuses, PPE cleaning, vacation, Sunday pay increases , and, more generally, "respect for working conditions and the dignity of workers."
"The company continues to procrastinate, shirk its responsibilities, and fail to address the merits of just and well-founded demands," the unions declared. "This is why the mobilization is growing stronger: because it stems from real problems and the determination of the workers who ensure the airport's operations every day."
The strike will take place on May 19th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. At the same time, a strike has been called for all overtime and supplementary work from midnight on April 24th to May 19th.
The dispute, they add, is not just about economic issues, but also involves a more general principle of respect for workers, recognition of rights, and quality of industrial relations. "The mobilization represents a necessary step to restore balance in a confrontation that, until now, the company has faced without a real desire to find real solutions . While the public debate focuses on the possible privatization of Cagliari airport and a management team now nearing its end, there is a risk of relegating workers' prospects and conditions to the background."
Finally, the trade unions specify that the protest will take place in compliance with current legislation, with the guarantee of essential services and minimum essential services , in particular for airport activities and security services.
