Fear erupted overnight in Cagliari after a fire broke out inside a house on Via Temo, in the Sant'Avendrace neighborhood. Two elderly people were rescued by firefighters and emergency medical services. Both were taken to the hospital with critical conditions, but their conditions improved over the next few hours.

The alarm was raised around midnight. The flames broke out on the ground floor of a building. Firefighters inside the apartment administered first aid to the unconscious man, who was then handed over to medical personnel. His wife was also involved, and was already outside the apartment when crews arrived.
Firefighters contained and extinguished the fire, which had involved furniture and some appliances, preventing the flames from spreading to the entire house and the apartments above. The cause of the blaze is currently unknown.
