A break-in occurred overnight on Via Sassari, Cagliari, at the Asian street food restaurant Don. The robbery reportedly occurred around 5:00 a.m.: thieves smashed the glass of the restaurant's automatic door and stole the self-service checkout.
"There were about 100 euros inside, but the damage and inconvenience caused are more than that. The cash register they stole alone is worth about 7,000 euros," says Ricky Fu Pihao, owner of Don. "We're concerned because incidents like this are happening more and more frequently in the city center," he added. "Between the cash register and the automatic door, we're looking at nearly 10,000 euros in damage."
The glass door had already been repaired by late morning, allowing the restaurant to reopen. The Carabinieri are investigating the break-in.
