The entire coastline is now accessible. The Cabras municipal administration has completed the restoration and modernization of the seafront walkway in San Giovanni di Sinis , between the "Da Marina" kiosk and the "La Playa" kiosk, providing residents and tourists with a vital piece of infrastructure for safe and environmentally friendly beach access.

The work, which extends along a 155-meter path, concludes with a 30-square-meter platform equipped with two umbrellas and a Job chair to facilitate access to the water for people with reduced mobility or physical disabilities . The work was completed thanks to a €62,500 grant from the Sardinia Region's Department of Tourism, in addition to €14,000 from the Cabras Municipality budget, for a total investment of €76,500.

"We are restoring to San Giovanni di Sinis an efficient, beautiful structure that finally lives up to one of the island's most picturesque stretches of coastline," said Mayor Andrea Abis. "We weren't satisfied with a stopgap intervention: we wanted an excellent infrastructure, built with long-lasting sustainability in mind."

From a technical standpoint, the choice of materials was at the heart of the project. We opted for high-quality, ultra-high-density natural woods , capable of withstanding the corrosive action of salt air and constant foot traffic without requiring polluting chemical treatments. "Choosing this type of wood means making a long-term strategic choice: non-invasive maintenance in the coming years and a solid walkway under the feet of swimmers," explains Public Works Councilor Enrico Giordano. This sentiment is echoed by Environment Councilor Carlo Carta: "We have protected our dune heritage by eliminating all chemicals from the wood: natural engineering is a perfect match for landscape protection, channeling water flows in an orderly fashion toward the shoreline without disrupting the delicate balance of San Giovanni."

But beyond its technical quality, the project acquires profound community value thanks to the spontaneous collaboration in its daily management. Ibrahim, a longtime street vendor on the waterfront, will volunteer to manage the area, while overnight storage of equipment will be provided free of charge at the nearby "Da Marina" kiosk.

"Ensuring the restoration of the seafront paths means improving accessibility without discrimination. The presence of the platform with umbrellas and the Job chair is an important completion of the project, which finds extraordinary added value in the beautiful synergy created with the local community and the waterfront workers," emphasizes Councilor for Social Policies Laura Celletti.

Finally, Mayor Andrea Abis summarizes this synergy: "The strength of this unique project lies in the management of the picnic area through Ibrahim's volunteer work and the "Da Marina" kiosk, which demonstrate the most committed and welcoming side of Cabras. It is this model of collaboration between institutions, citizens, and workers that can make a territory truly special."
