The musical group Istentales is also mobilizing to collect signatures in favor of the "Beniamino Zuncheddu and Others" law, proposed by the Radical Party and intended to guarantee a provisional financial compensation to those acquitted at the end of a trial. Among the latest high-profile cases is that of Benamino Zuncheddu of Burcei, acquitted for the 1991 Sinnai massacre.
Zuncheddu was released from prison after 33 years of innocent life . The Radical Party's bill, supported by prisoners' ombudsman Irene Testa, provides for a check from the moment of acquittal until the sentence for damages is awarded. So far, 25,000 signatures have been collected. 50,000 are needed. Now, the Istentales, led by their leader Gigi Sanna, are also mobilizing, and will also bring the signature collection to Italy on their upcoming tour.
They will be in Civitavecchia on September 19th, in Viterbo on September 20th, in Colleferro on September 21st, in Pomarance (Pisa) on September 26th, in Ponte a Tressa (Siena) on September 27th . And again in Bergamo on October 10th, in Berbenno on October 11th, in Rivoli on October 12th. Along with the Istentales, who met Beniamino Zuncheddu this evening during their concert in Burcei on the occasion of the Sagra di Santa Maria, there will also be Gianluca Genco of the Radical Party, who has been engaged in this signature collection for months.
