The Brotzu is exploding, there are no more beds, and the "situation is causing a logistical and organizational overload" that "could compromise the ability to guarantee patient safety and appropriate care." It's happened again: in a note sent yesterday morning at lunchtime, the director general and medical director of Sardinia's main hospital, Giorgio Carboni and Maurizio Marcias, asked for maximum cooperation from the general managers of all Sardinia's healthcare companies and informed the top management of the Department of Health.
At Brotzu, the departments of Anesthesia and Resuscitation, Cardiac Anesthesia, Cardiology and UTIC, Orthopedics and Traumatology, Hand Surgery and Orthopedic and Traumatological Microsurgery, Thoracic Surgery and Interventional Medicine, Gastroenterology, Emergency Medicine, General Medicine and Neurosurgery are fully occupied.
Beyond the sliding doors overlooking Piazzale Ricchi, there are no more beds available. The notice, also delivered to Areus and then to 118, mandates that patients be diverted to other hospitals that, according to what we understand, are not in much better conditions. Those in need of care could therefore be taken care of by private facilities. Unless the corridors are also filled.
