The Sardinia Region formalises the no to the Barumini wind farm.

"As announced during the meeting in Barumini, the Regional Department of Environmental Defense sent the Pnrr-Pniec Technical Commission the strongly negative judgment on the project for the construction and operation of a plant for the production of electricity from wind sources , called 'Luminu', in the territories of Barumini, Escolca, Gergei, Las Plassas and Villanovafranca, as well as the connection works also falling in the municipalities of Genoni, Gesturi and Nuragus», announced the councilor Marco Porcu.

Who, last Wednesday, on the occasion of the meeting promoted by Coldiretti on the installation of a wind farm near Su Nuraxi di Barumini had already expressed his dissent.

«The project - added the councilor Porcu - as also indicated by other components of the regional administration and by the municipalities concerned, would involve, in the territories concerned, impacts that cannot be mitigated or compensated . Above all for an area of great value, also known internationally, characterized by significant archaeological, historical, landscape and, certainly no less important, socio-economic peculiarities. It is an area with a high tourist and agro-pastoral vocation. Two important areas of the regional economy, which do not contemplate coexistence with plants such as the one proposed».

"After this first formal act, the necessary discussions at a political level will follow , so that the national government also takes note of the negative effects that the project would have in the territories affected by the installation", concluded the councilor for the defense of the environment.
