Tensions are high in Bancali prison between the prison police and the facility's director.

The scandal was sparked by the surge in disciplinary proceedings against officers, which the Regional Coordination of the UILPA Sardinia Penitentiary Police has singled out. It has sent a request to the Regional Prison Authority to clarify what is happening in the prison.

The point of contention is a service order that regulates the procedures for submitting medical certificates in the event of absence for health reasons. The union claims this provision was never officially communicated or disseminated to staff, resulting in a series of disciplinary measures deemed "unacceptable and worrying."

"We have received reports from numerous operators," explains the UILPA Coordination, "who were completely unaware of the existence of the Service Order. It is unacceptable to initiate disciplinary sanctions based on regulations that were never notified."

The association accuses the facility's management and calls for the immediate suspension of ongoing proceedings and an internal investigation to clarify the legitimacy of the institute's management. The association further requests guarantees that the procedures required by current legislation regarding public employment and administrative transparency are complied with. "It is imperative," the statement continues, "that every provision be formally communicated and that workers' rights be fully respected."
