Bad weather: snow even at low altitudes in Sardinia
Many areas have woken up with the countryside and whitewashed roofs, schools closed in various centers
When spring seemed to have brought the first rays of warm sun to Sardinia, everything changed. And the temperatures suddenly turned cold. This morning the peaks of Nuorese and Ogliastra were whitened by snow, with phenomena that are also recorded in the south of the island - as in Burcei - and in hilly altitudes such as in Esterzili and Sadali.
In Cagliari the mercury column has approached zero to rise to 4 degrees in these hours.
The white mantle hit low-altitude centers such as Nuoro, where it started to snow around two in the morning, and Lanusei, where the demonstration for the right to health promoted by #ogliastrainlotta was postponed due to snow. In Atzara the mayor, "due to the particular meteorological situation", closed schools of all levels. A similar decision was taken by the Municipality of Ortueri with which it shares the school service, and by Macomer where a bus also crossed the via Sardegna overpass.
The snowplows are in action on the state road 131 between Nuorese and Sassarese, while at the Birori junction there is a heavy vehicle damaged on the roadway.
The Polstrada di Nuoro is operating everywhere under the command of Leopoldo Testa.
Finally, snow and slowdowns on the SS 389 Nuoro-Lanusei where the Anas vehicles are in action. The Polstrada recommends "not to travel without chains or suitable tires, especially on the road sections of the Statali 389 and the provincial roads that lead to the localities of Fonni and Lanusei and to the Carlo Felice at the height of the Campeda plateau until the emergency is over" .
