The regional councilor of Sardinia and coordinator on the Island of Italy in the Center, Antonello Peru, was sentenced this morning by the judge of the Court of Sassari, Mauro Pusceddu, to 5 years and 6 months of imprisonment for attempted extortion at the end of the trial. for alleged building abuses in his seaside villa in Marritza, on the coast of the Marina di Sorso.

On the other hand, Peru and the other 5 defendants were acquitted of the accusations of abuse of office, ideological and material falsehood, revelation of office secrets and aiding and abetting: Alessandra Piras, companion of the regional councilor, Enrico Cabras, commander at the time of the local police of Sorso, Maurizio Loriga, municipal manager, Marco Del Rio, engineer, and the owner of the construction company that carried out the work, Angelo Antonio Dedola.

Now Peru will be suspended for 18 months from the office of regional councilor based on the Severino law. In his place, the former mayor of Alghero, Marco Tedde, will enter the Sardinian assembly hall.

THE INVESTIGATIONS - The investigation started in 2014 after the complaint of a neighbor who had reported suspicious construction activities in Marritza, a few tens of meters from the shoreline in an area of maximum landscape protection.

According to the prosecutor, the villa was built in violation of planning laws and regulations.
