New ATM scam in Cagliari: the victim, this time, is a 41-year-old teacher.
The woman, according to what was reconstructed by the carabinieri to whom she applied for the complaint, had published on a well-known internet portal the rental offer for an apartment she owned in the center of Cagliari.
The woman had then received a call from a stranger, who said he was ready to rent for the agreed amount, 720 euros per month, at the same time inviting the woman to go to an ATM where she would have received confirmation of the agreed fee.
Relying on the gentle words of that man and following the telephone instructions of the same, the woman then typed on the keyboard of the system the keys that were gradually suggested to her, however realizing, once the operations were completed, that she had paid and not received the agreed sum for the first month's salary.
The woman then turned to the carabinieri of the San Bartolomeo station, who with the collaboration of the banking institution and the telephone operator to which the user used by the scammer belonged managed to identify a 24-year-old Neapolitan.
The telephone account is instead registered in the name of a thirty-year-old Egyptian who, however, has several hundred SIM cards in his name and who therefore should simply be a figurehead, perhaps even unaware of the use of his identity for the opening of numerous telephone contracts.
