On the one hand, being Arzachena (with Alghero, the only localities in Sardinia) in the network of major Italian seaside towns G20Spiagge, all included among the 100 major tourist towns by economic value added, i.e. producers of that income, i.e. of GDP, which supports the national economy, it is undoubtedly important. A recent study by Sociometrics "The wealth of tourist municipalities - Ranking according to the creation of added value" elaborated on Istat data says that every euro spent directly in tourism generates a further 60 cents in other sectors (20% industry, 35% services, 5% agriculture).
The Municipalities of the G20Spiagge attract 70 million tourists , 16% of the total tourist visits in Italy. On the other hand, however, it is not easy for municipal administrators to combine the rights of the inhabitants with the needs of the guests . "Last March, together with the mayors of the G20 network of beaches - recalls the deputy mayor, Cristina Usai - we brought before the X Parliamentary Commission the request to launch legislation that recognizes the possibility of freely using the resources available , overcoming budget constraints. Faced with the financial endowments and human resources of small municipalities, we have to provide for the organization of services for hundreds of thousands of tourists without, however, having the appropriate means. In addition, Arzachena also boasts a decisive role in the field of cultural and archaeological tourism, as well as representing the engine of tourism development in Gallura and Sardinia for 60 years".
The figures, which are important, comments the Councilor for Tourism, Claudia Giagoni , require « more and more investments on our part to improve the offer of services . We will talk about it extensively with tour operators in the next meetings and during the G20 meeting on beaches which, I recall, will be held in Arzachena in 2023 and on which we are already working ».
