A terrible tragedy occurred late on Wednesday evening in Alghero, where a young man not even 16 years old, Cristian Martinez, collided on his scooter with an Ape car on the dark and at times bumpy road that leads to Punta Moro, a countryside area north of the city, where the boy – who attended the art institute – lived with his family.
For reasons yet to be clarified, the young man was returning home around 10:30 p.m. when he crashed into another vehicle traveling on the same road. The two vehicles collided and the crash was devastating. The Carabinieri of the Alghero company and the 118 emergency services were on site and tried everything to save the unfortunate boy's life, unfortunately without success.
The news of the accident and his premature death shocked and saddened the entire city. There was also controversy over the state of the Punta Moro road, near the level crossing.
A dark and narrow artery, traveled daily by many motorists. The carabinieri have sent an investigation to shed light on the exact dynamics.
The reconstruction. Cristian Martinez, who was still 16 years old, was returning home from basketball practice. He was in the third year of architecture at the Art Institute of Alghero. "A brilliant, elegant, sensitive boy," his teachers, devastated by grief, remember him. "Never a word out of place, always willing to help others."
This morning the pain of teachers and students is great. "The kids are in disbelief. They are all hugging each other and the lessons have stopped."
