The operation called "Carango", aimed at verifying compliance with the rules on the traceability of fish products in restaurants in order to avoid the inclusion in the commercial circuit, and therefore the supply to final consumers, of species from from illegal fishing or the taking of which is prohibited.

The activities were carried out by the soldiers of the Alghero Coast Guard, under the coordination of the 15th CCAP of the Olbia Maritime Directorate.

In total, 327 kilos of fish products were seized, while the amount of administrative penalties amounted to 3 thousand euros.

The Coast Guard invites consumers, particularly in the period of the upcoming holidays, "to purchase and consume fish products whose traceability is certified, confirmed by the required mandatory information on the label".
