Alghero: Car leaves road, killing one woman, injuring three others

Fatal accident on the 127 bis near the "Il Ruscello" nightclub in Alghero.

The victim was Amalia Delogu, 85. Three others were also injured: the victim's 63-year-old brother (who was driving), her 84-year-old sister—who is in critical condition—and a 46-year-old niece. They were transferred to hospitals in Sassari and Alghero.

The car in which the four, all from Usini but owners of a house in Alghero, were traveling went out of control and overturned on the road. No other vehicles were involved.

The emergency medical service, along with a helicopter, firefighters and law enforcement, were on site.

The driver was nearly strangled by his seat belt , which was cut by a local police officer with a knife.
