He was returning home after a day at work. He went off the road last night and into a ravine, where he was found dead only this morning. A passing Carabinieri patrol noticed the vehicle.

Yet another tragedy, albeit indirect, has struck Silanus. Pier Luigi Chessa, 45, from Silanus, where he had left twenty years ago, was killed in the accident in Arsiero, in the province of Vicenza. Illness, or perhaps microsleep, appears to have been the cause of the tragedy.

Pier Luigi Chessa had returned to his hometown for the last time for the funeral of his father, Mario Chessa, and before that of his mother, Lella Oggianu.

The worker, who worked in a factory in Veneto, leaves behind a brother, Gianfranco Chessa, who works at the Nuoro hospital. The family is well-known and respected in the area.

The lifeless body of Pier Luigi Chessa was recovered this morning by firefighters.
