A bomb from the Second World War was found near a house in Porto Rafael, a village overlooking the archipelago of La Maddalena. The bomb squads of the 5th engineer regiment of the "Sassari" Brigade made it shine in complete safety this morning at the Monti Ruiu quarry.

The piercing action artillery shot had a 57 mm high explosive load and the Army bomb squads, intervened at the request of the prefecture of Sassari, operated in full compliance with environmental constraints, securing the bomb and removing it from the area of Mediterranean scrub in which it was discovered.

The Red Cross took part in the operations, guaranteeing health care, and the carabinieri of the Palau station, who assisted the bomb squads of the 5th Macomer engineer regiment in blocking the area during blasting operations.
