Gaia Deiana, a 14-year-old from Quartu, is the first Sardinian to win the Grand Prix in the Italian National Final of SanremoJunior, reserved for very young people between 6 and 15 years old.

He beat the competition of 40 semi-finalists and 18 finalists, coming from all over Italy, with an appreciated interpretation of "Desert Rose" by Sting, in the version by Faouzia , Moroccan singer-songwriter and musician, naturalized Canadian.

The "SanremoJunior Committee Award" instead went to Maria Sofia Corona, a 13-year-old from San Sperate , who proposed a personal version of "My all" by Mariah Carey.

The jury chaired by the singer and author, Franco Fasano, flanked by Lodovico Saccol, Vladislav Baginskyi, Cristina Orvieto and Freddy Colt, therefore chose the two young Sardinian performers.

Gaia Deiana will represent Italy at the World Final on 17 April at the Ariston Theater in Sanremo, competing for victory with competitors from over 20 European and non-European nations.

Gaia has been studying singing since 2020 with Teacher Valentina Lodi Rizzini in the "Out of Tunes" class, an educational project of the "Clara Voce" youth choir of Quartu.
