Sant'Efisio: the investiture of the Alter nos Viviana Lantini, the journey of the warrior martyr begins

The 366th edition of the feast of Sant'Efisio comes to life. This morning in Cagliari the investiture ceremony of the Alter Nos, Viviana Lantini , by the mayor, Paolo Truzzu.
"I mayor of Cagliari, by popular will - the ritual formula -, appoint you, Viviana Lantini, Alter Nos, to represent the Administration in all the events that will be organized in honor of Sant'Efisio Martire".
Present at the ceremony were the President of the Municipal Council, Edoardo Tocco, the Archconfraternity of the Gonfalone and the daughter of the Alter Nos. "Welcome to the municipal house. Today is an important day. Together with the 366th Feast of Sant'Efisio, the possibility of embracing our Saint all together , we also celebrate the Labor Day", said Truzzu.
“I want to thank - he added - all those who have allowed this festival to be celebrated. All those have worked in ten days to ensure that today all the inhabitants of Cagliari, the whole of Sardinia can finally return to live this beautiful moment ".
The chariot of the warrior martyr, who in 1656 freed Cagliari from the plague according to tradition, began its journey. Along the way, many people invoked his intercession also for the war in Ukraine .
After the greeting and applause in front of the Town Hall in a Via Roma covered with flower petals for the traditional " ramadura ", the saint took the road to the places of martyrdom, in Nora, about forty kilometers from the city. The simulacrum will then return to the Stampace church on 4 May.
