Davide Ballardini will lead Sassuolo in the last twelve days of the championship in search of salvation. The company announces that it has entrusted him with the technical leadership of the company until the end of the season. Emiliano Bigica, who coached the team in the 6-1 match against Napoli, returns to coach the Primavera.

The agreement, from an economic point of view, provides that at the end of the season they will decide whether or not to continue this adventure together. There is a renewal clause, but not specified by the company, linked to achieving salvation.

With him, collaborators Carlo Regno (assistant coach), Nicola Tarroni (technical collaborator), Daniele Caleca (athletic trainer) will become part of the first team staff . The heavy defeat suffered on Thursday evening against Napoli prompted the club's top management to choose their third coach of the season, thanking "Emiliano Bigica - reads the press release - for his availability and professionalism".

Before accepting, Ballardini had to terminate the contract with Cremonese to which he was linked until June 2025 after being sacked on the fifth day of Serie B on 18 September. Romagnolo from Ravenna, 60 years old, a highly experienced coach, has often been called upon by clubs in difficult situations from a ranking point of view. Cremonese are the last in order of time (relegated to Serie B in June). Genoa's is a bench that he occupied at various times, in November 2010 (he was saved but was not confirmed), in January 2013, in 2017 (except in Serie A). Fourth experience with the Ligurians in December 2020, an experience that lasted, after salvation, until November 2021. Among the teams he coached, also Cagliari, Lazio, Palermo, Bologna.
