The Teatro Lirico of Cagliari opens its doors to Leo Muscato 's staging for Gioacchino Rossini 's La Cenerentola , in his debut in Italy .

Friday 17 March at 8.30 pm the first appointment with the opera, a playful drama in two acts on a libretto by Jacopo Ferretti , based on the fairy tale by Charles Perrault, who has been absent from Cagliari since 2010 (performed in concert form) and from 1977 (performed in scenic form).

The original staging – which comes from the Theater Bonn and is currently owned by the Teatro Lirico of Cagliari – is presented for the first time in the Bel Paese and is directed by Muscato , recent winner of the “Franco Abbiati” Award . At her side is Marialuisa Bafunno (director and producer), while the sets are by Andrea Belli , the costumes by Margherita Baldoni and the lights by Max Karbe . The Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari will be conducted by Jonathan Brandani , the versatile musician and refined musicologist with an international curriculum who made his debut in Cagliari in the 2022 concert season. The choir master is Giovanni Andreoli .

The two casts of performers who alternate in the performances include: Dave Monaco (17-19-22-24-26)/ Chuan Wang (18-23-25) (Don Ramiro), Christian Senn (17-19-22- 24-26)/ Andrea Vincenzo Bonsignore (18-23-25) (Dandini), Giulio Mastrototaro (17-19-22-24-26)/ Alex Martini (18-23-25) (Don Magnifico), Chiara Notarnicola ( Clorinda), Giuseppina Piunti (Thisbe), Paola Gardina (17-19-22-24-26)/ Asude Karayavuz (18-23-25) (Angelina, known as Cinderella), Pablo Ruiz (17-19-22-24- 26)/Davide Giangregorio (18-23-25) (Alidoro).

The opera , with a total duration of approximately 2 hours and 50 minutes including the intermission, will be repeated : Saturday 18 March at 7pm (set G); Sunday 19 March at 5pm (round D); Wednesday 22 March at 8.30 pm (round B); Thursday 23 March at 7pm (set F); Friday 24 March at 8.30 pm (shift C); Saturday 25 March at 5 pm (round I); Sunday 26 March at 5pm (round E). There are also two performances, scheduled for Tuesday 21 March and Friday 24 March, for schools. The appointments provide for the execution in reduced form of the playful drama, for a total duration of approximately 60 minutes.
