A conceptual and visual journey that starts from fingers and nails to explore the meaning of human existence . The exhibition “Otto spade” by Rachele Sotgiu will be inaugurated on Sunday 22nd September at 6pm in the Gebaude Art Gallery in Sassari . Curated by Giovanni Manunta Pastorello, the exhibition can be visited by appointment until 7th October .
The exhibition features nine works by the artist from Nuoro who moves between the figurative and the abstract, the intimate and the symbolic, highlighting the transformative power of the pictorial image.
The title “Eight Swords” comes from one of the central works of the exhibition, where eight fingers emerge as stylized figures, each with a sharp, metallic nail . This detail suggests a latent tension between vulnerability and aggression, between the delicacy of the flesh and the hardness of the metal, recalling the idea of a weapon that can be both protective and destructive.
As Giovanni Manunta Pastorello states in the critical text accompanying the exhibition: “Rachele Sotgiu is an artist who works using painting as an instrument of investigation. She searches, in front of the image, for the essence of things, their potential and symbolic matter. The approach she uses starts from the depths of her mind, aware of the fact that her body is an interface with the world”.
