The 55th Exhibition of Sardinian Crafts will be inaugurated on Saturday 30 July, at 6 pm at the former social cellar in Samugheo . “Tessingiu”, organized by the Municipality in concert with the Murats museum and Pro loco, can be visited until 21 August, in the morning from 10 to 13.30 and in the evening from 15.30 to 20.30.

Seventy artisans selected from the best creatives on the island will offer visitors precious and particular creations, the result of their great mastery. "Tessingiu", once again this year, renews the traditional appointment with the excellence of the regional panorama. Here then that visitors will be able to admire and buy textile creations, but also glass, wood, leather, ceramic, iron, stone products, With a single ticket, they will also have the opportunity to visit the exhibition already set up at Murats, “Designer - Ideas and projects for Sardinian craftsmanship.” Curated by Baingio Cuccu and Anna Rita Punzo, it collects the emerging features from the fertile creative ground of today's Sardinian craftsmanship and reveals to the public the gestational process that leads from the conception of the idea to the realization of the tangible body; drafts, drawings, preparatory projects and prototypes tell the genesis, inspirations, emotional implications, technical and theoretical aspects that they trace grooves of a material, typological, stylistic and iconic character.

“Samugheo consolidates a tradition that has been going on for decades. The expectation is that Tessingiu can grow and constitute an economic-tourist attraction pole. I hope that next year can be linked to the Tibetan bridge and the adventure park ”, underlines the mayor Basilio Patta. His deputy and councilor for production activities Luigi Todde adds: “With the increase in expenditure in public administrations, it becomes increasingly difficult to organize promotional events. Samugheo is one of the few institutional realities that makes resources available. Tessingiu is an important moment of confrontation for artisans ”.

The artistic director of the event and director of Murats Baingio Cuccu explains: "Samugheo is the place par excellence of weaving, it is the only center in Sardinia that has companies that can satisfy any type of furnishing request for a hotel: curtains, carpets , towels, blankets. Tessingiu then extends to all Sardinian craftsmanship and the Designer exhibition also goes in that direction: to make Samugheo the center of Sardinian craftsmanship par excellence. This year the Artigianos / Artigianas project of the Sardinia Foundation will be hosted, exhibited at the Milan triennial ”. A series of collateral events are also being defined. From 5 to 7 August there will be the Tessingiu Festival in which different aspects related to weaving and crafts will be addressed. Meanwhile, Saturday begins with a bang. Those who reach Samugheo for the inauguration of Tessingiu will in fact also have another nice surprise. The summer festival of Sardinian masks is scheduled for 9.30 pm. Following dances in the square until late at night.
