"Dear Union,

as Regional Coordination of the Presidents of the Council of Club and of the Institute of the Region of Sardinia, we receive on a constant basis and since last September 14, the starting date of school activities, numerous reports from students, parents and school staff from all over the territory islander about public transport.

These reports refer mainly to female students and students who are unable to access the vehicles, journeys canceled without notice, vehicles in extra-urban service with passengers who are forced to travel standing.

Too often, in fact, they are deprived of the constitutional right to study and mobility, among other things in a region where the school dropout rate continues to record important values.

After more than a month from the beginning of the school year, we cannot continue to talk about 'study and running in'. The transport service must be considered 'fully operational'.

Local public transport bodies / administrations / companies are perfectly aware of the numbers of customers who benefit from the service, as well as the time slots in which to offer the services. The problem, daily and inexorably, is assuming an emergency nature, also from the point of view of public order.

Our appeal is therefore to local and extra-urban public transport companies, so that they want to take charge of it, compare it with the news in their possession, to evaluate a strengthening of the school transport service, aimed at contingent needs, also through an hourly remodeling of the sections concerned. , for the optimization of the activity. And again to the Regional Transport Councilor, so that he can recover additional funds to be assigned to strengthen the school transport service, supporting the costs of the Local Authorities. And again to the Prefects, as persons in charge of the school / transport coordination table and responsible-guarantors of order and public safety in the local area, so that they can evaluate any interventions within their competence.

The hope is that further working groups will be set up involving users of the service (school administrators, student councils, parents' committees), so that the right balance can be obtained between the public service service and the training needs of female students and of students from the entire Region of Sardinia.

The Coordination of the Presidents of the Club Council and of the Institute of the Sardinia Region
