Hall X of the Doria Castle in Castelsardo inaugurated yesterday, Sunday 29 September, the exhibition entitled Ombre Rosse, by the painter Igino Panzino , one of the most significant figures in the current island panorama. The artist spent the last thirty years of the 20th century constantly engaging in study and experimentation, to arrive at the present day with a wealth of experiences and original productions of the highest profile.

Panzino, born in Sassari in 1950 , grew up in the highly ideologized climate of the late Sixties and began his exhibition activity at the beginning of the Seventies with works of strong design impact, a convinced supporter of the ethical and social value of artistic creation.

" The exhibition - says the Councilor for Culture Maria Speranza Frassetto - is part of the relaunch project, promoted and supported by the Municipal Administration of Castelsardo , which intends to continue along the path undertaken in the previous mandate (2014-2019), a period in which the Doria castle had hosted numerous exhibitions dedicated to the most representative names of Sardinian artistic production of the 20th century. The first were the Silecchia, followed by the late Maestro Giovanni Cau from Castelsardo, recently deceased, and his teachers Costantino Spada and Libero Meledina".

From spring 2018 to early 2019, the hall of the Doria castle had housed two wonderful exhibitions of works by the painter Liliana Cano, who passed away two years later, in 2021. Noteworthy is the exhibition of the valuable works from the De Montis collection, entitled “Treasures of Sardinia”: from Giuseppe Biasi to Maria Lai, from Bernardino Palazzi to Costantino Nivola, from the Coroneo sisters to Mario Delitala, from Eugenio Tavolara to Francesco Ciusa, to name but a few.

The prestigious exhibition project culminated, in the spring of 2019, in the precious collection of eighty engravings “I Capricho” by Francisco Goya.

The exhibition by Igino Panzino, which will be presented by the art critic Ivo Serafino Fenu, can be visited until October 31, from 9 am to 7 pm , every day, including holidays.
