At the Mario Cervo Archive, music and lyrics feature in the show "La storia siamo noi," starring Flavio Soriga and Gianluca Pischedda. Produced by Insulae Lab, a music production center founded by Paolo Fresu, the project showcases the writer's creativity and the cellist's experimental approach, recently in town and recipient of the Cervo Recording Award. From major Sardinian literary festivals to upcoming tours of the peninsula, and the Barcelona Italian Literature Festival scheduled for October, the show arrives tomorrow, starting at 7:00 PM, at the iconic venue of the island's musical legacy.
A journey that, thanks to novelist Flavio Soriga, accompanied by musician Gianluca Pischedda, will take us into the folds of the stories and characters of Sardinian history. "Sardinia has never been outside of time; its people have always been part of history, and its writers have repeatedly attempted to tell it, history seen through the eyes of those who lived on the island," is the idea behind the project.
This performance-lesson tells the story of adventurers and kings, of people who fought for freedom, of commoners who took up arms to defend themselves from invasion. It does so by citing witnesses from the times, literary tales, legends, and ballads. "History is Us" is an open-ended narrative, an attempt to delve into Sardinian history, without claiming to be exhaustive, with the hope of sparking curiosity about what happened.
