"From 2022 the road to Capo Caccia open only to buses and electric cars"

Capo Caccia will only be reached by electric cars. The energy transition projects the first effect on Sardinian roads, declined by the Park Authority on the three and a half kilometer asphalt strip overlooking the blue of the Gulf of Porto Conte. Mariano Mariani, 62, has been managing the operational arm of the Municipality of Alghero for five years and has been carrying out the project: «It is ambitious, financed and will start in 2022».

Within the boundaries of the special company, 5200 hectares of land park coexist - established by a regional law - and 2600 hectares of sea on 38 kilometers of coastline transformed into a marine area protected by a ministerial decree. In this slice of paradise, between the Mediterranean scrub and the largest posidonia prairie in the Mediterranean, the Head of State Sergio Mattarella also spent his August holidays: «It was a year of strong recovery after the collapse of 2020 caused by Covid. It is also the result of the commitment of ten employees plus a series of collaborations. Until 2019 we were traveling around 40 thousand guests who paid a ticket for visits. In 2020 there was a 50% drop, this year we are back to normal ».

La Maddalena plans the limited number for boats, and you?

“The problem is not that compelling. In high season, 250 boats sail a day in the park. We will enhance the moorings with new buoy fields. By 2022 we plan to go from twenty to a hundred, also to avoid the wild anchorage that causes so many damages to the posidonia ».

Where can we moor?

«At Punta del Dentul, at the Bramassa, Cala Calcina, Cala Dragunara. The exact points, with the least environmental impact, will be identified with a study underway with the University of Sassari ».

Poaching?

“Consistent, especially for curls. The highest price is paid by the fleet of authorized fishermen who work in compliance with a specification. We are about to create a video surveillance system that will allow us to carry out more accurate checks ».

Tourism development?

“We are the only ecomuseum recognized by the Region, we have worked to diversify the offer. There are trekking and biking routes; Casa Gioiosa is a real cultural attraction, it preserves the historical memory of the prison and hosts the multimedia installations related to the Little Prince; the museum in the Porto Conte tower tells the story of Antoine de Saint Exupery in Alghero; the tower of San Giacomo, in the historic center, houses the first aquarium with live coral open to the public. Not just conservation, we promote and develop the fifty companies that produce in the park with sustainability criteria ».

The Green Grotto?

"It will open to visitors in 2022".

Internal mobility?

“An effort is underway to guarantee it only by electric means. There is a project already financed ».

What does it foresee?

«Near the Tramariglio headquarters by May, a five-hectare rest area will be created which will be the terminus for all petrol and diesel vehicles. The remaining 3,500 meters will be covered only with cars, buses and electric bicycles available to visitors ».

The wild boar and fallow deer emergency?

“It's serious, it causes damage and traffic accidents. A five-year containment plan will soon start again "

Will the Capo Caccia hotel be renovated?

«It finally has an owner who is obliged to respect the regulations of the Sic areas (site of community importance) and of the Special Protection Areas, and obviously the rules of the park. I know they are developing a redevelopment project ».

Punta Giglio is at the center of a battle for the recovery of a building from the Second World War. They accuse you of not following the rules.

«That too is a Sic-Zts area and we have expressed ourselves - together with about ten organizations - with a series of prescriptions and with supervision during the construction phase. From our point of view, there was full compliance with the rules. You can understand that the community may not share the project, but from here to say that there have been errors and illegitimate authorizations it passes us ».

New hotels?

«It will be understood with the Park Plan. Up to now it has not been perfected, it is a gap to be filled ».

When?

"The urban planning tool - together with the municipal urban plan and the coastal use plan - is the task of politics".
