Giorgia Orofino, student in the electrical, electronic and computer engineering degree course at the University of Cagliari, is the winner of the "Amazon Women in Innovation" scholarship, promoted by Amazon in collaboration with the Sardinian university.

The student - with three other students from as many Italian universities - will benefit from a loan of 6 thousand euros for the academic year 2021/22, with the possibility of renewal in the following two years, in addition to the support of a mentor, made available by Amazon, to help develop skills useful for future work, such as techniques for creating an effective resume or interviewing for a job at Amazon or other companies.

The initiative is part of the " Amazon in the Community " program, created to encourage and help young women to undertake a course of study and to satisfy their ambition to work in the field of innovation and technology.

The "Amazon Women in Innovation" scholarship project also extends to the Politecnico di Milano, Politecnico di Torino and the University of Rome "Tor Vergata", universities located in the cities where the corporate headquarters, the Development center and several distribution centers.

In Cagliari , the company opened the Customer Service Center in 2012 and inaugurated a new sorting depot in 2020 which thus led to over 1200 permanent hires in Sardinia.
