The "Aurea Musica" international festival of music and beauty is about to begin, bringing the historic churches of Quartu Sant'Elena to life from October 24th to November 8th.

The festival, supported by the Fondazione di Sardegna with the patronage of the Municipality of Quartu Sant'Elena, offers concerts, masterclasses, and workshops over four dates.

The program aims to celebrate the union between classical music, traditional heritage, and the local area.

The inauguration of the festival is scheduled for this evening, Saturday, October 24, at 7:00 pm in the church of Sant'Efisio with cellist Andrea Pettinau, the protagonist of a concert dedicated to some of Johann Sebastian Bach's most famous suites.

A virtuoso with long international concert experience, Pettinau is a member of the Orchestre des Champs-Élysées conducted by Philippe Herreweghee and has collaborated with performers of the calibre of Ton Koopman and Ottavio Dantone.

On Saturday, November 7th at 7:00 PM, the church of Sant'Agata will host a concert by Roberto Cilona, flautist and national president of AGIMUS, the Young Musicians Association active since 1948 in the promotion and dissemination of musical culture, in a duo with guitarist Massimo Aureli.

The flute and guitar duo offers a classical and traditional repertoire, the result of a long artistic partnership that combines classical rigor, research, and musical experimentation.
The third concert will be held on Sunday, November 8th at 11 a.m. in the church of Nostra Signora del Buon Cammino in Flumini.

The charming country church will be the setting for a performance by Luigi Lai, a historic figure and key figure in traditional Sardinian music, as well as one of the greatest masters of the launeddas.

On the sidelines of the performance, the virtuoso from San Vito will be awarded a lifetime achievement award, in recognition of his contribution to traditional music and the transmission of a cultural heritage that lives on through teaching and musical practice.

The final concert of the series will take place in the church of Santa Maria di Cepola at 6:00 PM on November 8th. The duo will feature the guitar and trumpet duo of Simone Onnis, an international concert artist considered one of the most representative heirs of the Alirio Díaz guitar school, and Laura Cocco, an eclectic trumpeter active in numerous orchestras and ensembles. They will perform music by Georg Philipp Telemann, George Frideric Handel, and Johann Sebastian Bach, specially transcribed for this ensemble by the performers themselves.

The event's goal is to celebrate beauty through a dialogue between musical experience and the valorization of the architectural, artistic, and landscape heritage represented by Quartu's historic churches.

The concert program and the selection of venues follow a common thread that draws a parallel between music and landscape, highlighting the continuity between classical music and traditional repertoire, in a dialogue between cultural heritage and artistic expression.
