"The disconnect between who governs and the difficult situation experienced by workers in situations in crisis, for which there is not even a commitment to start a discussion to seek a way out, is increasingly striking". This is the comment by Fausto Durante, secretary of the CGIL Sardinia, who in a note underlines how "while a protest explodes in the Sulcis Iglesiente area which is destined to grow in intensity in the coming days , the majority that governs the Region is forced to convene a summit Villa Devoto to discuss its internal crisis».

Durante thus denounces the lack of responses from the Council and its president to the very serious uncertainties of Sardinia's economic, social and productive system .

«And yet – he adds -, the explosion of the protest of the Portovesme srl procurement workers between Friday and today demonstrates, in case it were needed, how high the risk is of a social exasperation linked to the crisis of jobs and orders that seems to have no end and that recent developments in the energy issue have made even more serious. In fact, after the discussion on the energy decree was postponed to November, the Region has not yet made it known what the direction will be, what countermeasures and what strategies it intends to adopt to safeguard the activity of companies and the same investment programs today seriously at risk " .

Finally, the CGIL underlines: "An attitude of greater openness and availability towards contract workers is also expected from the company management of Portovesme srl, with the aim of reducing as much as possible the use of social safety nets and increasing the numbers of the employed" .

In conclusion, the CGIL Sardinia secretary, who will be in Portovesme tomorrow morning, assures the total sharing of the workers' reasons and announces that the union "supports and will support all the mobilization initiatives that will be developed in the coming days".
