Ten years after the closure of the former Alcoa, a part of the Portovesme aluminum factory, now owned by Sider Alloys , is back to life.

The foundry was restarted : after a few weeks of testing, the new year began with the first aluminum plates, which had already left the Portovesme plant and were shipped to customers.

The relaunch plan of the factory will continue with the production of the billet line in the second quarter of 2023 and with the start-up of the first electrolytic cells in the autumn.

According to the company's plans, the electrolysis room will come on stream in the second half of next year.
