«With this initiative we hope to have a proactive role towards schools. We who are the point of reference for maritime and port dynamics, in this way we would like to be promoters of initiatives in favor of all school students of all levels". Thus the commander of the Harbor Master's Office, frigate captain Gabriele Peschiulli , this morning, on the occasion of the inauguration, in the municipal library of Porto Torres , of the section dedicated to the Coast Guard.

On the day of the "National Day of the Sea and Seafaring Culture" texts published by the Communication Office of the General Command of the Harbor Master's Office and others on seafaring culture were made available to the public: a fund that will be progressively implemented and which will find space in the section of the library dedicated to Agenda 2030, environmental issues and sustainable development.

Colleague Natale de Grazia was remembered together with the deputy commander Dario Di Perna, who lost his life while carrying out delicate investigations by the judicial police "on the ships of poisons" in a Calabrian compartment. His story is contained in the text "Navi mute" on view in the library.

During the presentation, an institutional video recalled all the tasks and functions of the Coast Guard. In the presence of representatives of the municipal administration and the National Association of Italian Sailors-section of Porto Torres, the Port Authorities also signed the " Pact for Reading " which involves various institutional and associative realities in the area.
Mayor Massimo Mulas thanked the gift offered by the Harbor Master's Office: «The sea is a fundamental part of our identity and we believe that this contribution from the Harbor Master's Office allows especially the youngest to learn more about an essential part of our culture. The Navy and the Coast Guard offer the community a crucial service on several fronts and on this occasion I can only thank the spirit of collaboration and the competence with which the staff of the Captaincy continuously puts itself on the line to address the small and large problems of the our Gulf".
