There is great excitement in the new Marina of Porto Cervo for the traditional late summer regattas.

Crews, technicians, professionals and many enthusiasts of different nationalities cross each other walking in the port where the giants of the sea are hosted who exploit the power of the wind for spectacular and exciting challenges.

In September, as usual, the great international sailing starts again with two sporting events of global interest.

From today until 10 September the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup is scheduled while, from 11 to 18 September, the emerald lake will host the Rolex Swan Cup which returns four years later due to the forced stop for the pandemic.

Particularly awaited is the 32nd edition of the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, an event organized by the YCCS in collaboration with the International Maxi Association (IMA) and with Rolex, which recorded a successful registration with 50 participating boats.

Four J Classes will be present, including Rangers, whose last participation in the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup dates back to 2014.

Among the fierce Maxi 72s, Cannonball by Dario Ferrari stands out, defending the title won last year under the banner of the YCCS.

Other notable names include the Wally Cento Magic Carpet Cubed, the maxi racers Deep Blue and Rambler.

Also expected are the debuts of Roberto Lacorte's mini maxi foiling Flying Nikka and that of Pier Luigi Loro Piana's ClubSwan 80 My Song, member of the YCCS.

After the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, the 21st edition of the Rolex Swan Cup will take place, a biennial event celebrating the bond between the YCCS, the Nautor's Swan shipyard and the historic partner Rolex.

Seeing over 90 boats parading between the islands of the La Maddalena Archipelago will be, as always, a unique spectacle.

The family spirit that combines fair play with a healthy but determined competitive spirit will accompany the six days of racing.

There will be eight classes in which the fleet of boats ranging from 36 to 120 feet will be divided and includes a wide range of models from the Finnish shipyard.

Among the various divisions, there will also be that of the ClubSwan 36 who will take part in the Rolex Swan Cup for the first time.

There will also be nine iconic historical Swans, designed by Sparkman & Stephens: among these we note the return of the Swan 43 Kokkola, which took part in its first Swan Cup in 1994.

Following the victory in its division in 2018, Plis Play is back, while among the new entries there will be the ClubSwan 50 Moonlight, launched last spring.

The Rolex Swan Cup will also mark the culmination of The Nations League 2022, the circuit dedicated to One Design, organized by ClubSwan Racing.

The overall winner of the circuit, together with the individual winners of each of the four one-design classes will be awarded at the Rolex Dinner Party, Saturday 17 September, the day following the exclusive owners' dinner held on the YCCS rooftop terrace.

A week full of competitions at sea and events at the new Marina, which will end on Sunday 18 September with the final award ceremony in Piazza Azzurra.

The sports season of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda will close with the traditional sailing and golf event, scheduled from 23 to 25 September, which combines the sport of sailing with that of golf, adding the scores won on the green with those acquired at sea.
