Ground spaces better defined and organized for the development of the bulk sector and the establishment of new production activities.

The tender procedure for the infrastructure of the G2W areas of the Port Regulatory Plan in the Port Channel of Cagliari has been published.

The integrated tender of the Sardinian Sea Port System Authority provides for the executive planning and construction of the work , for a starting bid amount of just over 19 and a half million euros .

The works will have a maximum duration of 390 days : the objective, the AdSP informs, is "a better connection with the operational areas and the reorganization of the spaces behind the 800-metre long quay , currently in clay and without services and underground services suitable for a sector which, in the Cagliari airport, generates an average movement of one million tons of goods per year and is starting a new season of growth".

In particular, " the intervention provides for the execution of primary urbanization works on approximately 280,000 square meters of yards , which can, once approved under concession, be used for the storage of solid or packaged goods, in the event of congestion of the ro-ro terminal which will be built next door in the next few years».

Internally, "the tendered project envisages a modern primary (four-lane) and secondary road network - both equipped with sidewalks and parking - which will allow heavy vehicles and operators to easily reach the goods storage yards and the related services that will arise once the concession titles to the companies have been defined. The compendium will subsequently be connected to the ro-ro terminal via an internal port road , behind the reclamation banks, financed with PNRR and ZES funds of 10 million euros, which will allow the connection between the west and east banks of the Channel Port to be completed thus decongesting the city road network on state road 195. The entire perimeter strip of the bulk area of the Port Channel will be planted with native species (hedges, shrubs and tall trees) which, beyond the mere aesthetic and definition of the spaces, will help to mitigate atmospheric emissions from production activities, above all to protect the protected wetland of the Santa Gilla lagoon".

"The work object of the tender will definitively bring order to the bulk compendium of the Port Channel of Cagliari and will facilitate the operations of loading, unloading and storage of goods - explains Massimo Deiana, President of the AdSP of the Sardinian Sea - An infrastructure necessary, the programmed one, which provides for the creation of well-defined lots, connected by modern internal and external roads and, above all, functional to the traffic needs of vehicles and operators. The entire operational area will be lightened by the presence of greenery which, in the project, becomes an active architectural element for the perimeter and protection of the nearby Santa Gilla lagoon. A new conformation that will allow the growth of the already operating activities and will undoubtedly represent a valid stimulus for the establishment of new entrepreneurial initiatives".
