Paris: Filippo Tortu qualifies for the semi-finals of the 200 meters

Good result for Filippo Tortu and Fausto Desalu, the two Italians competing in the 200 meters at the Paris Olympics.
Desalu finished the qualifying heat in second place in 20"26 preceded only by the American Joseph Fahnbulleh (20"20).
Tortu (third heat) goes to the semi-final at the last minute, and finishes in third place with 20''29 in a fast heat, beating the Canadian Brendon Rodney by a hundredth.
Letsile Tebogo won with 20"10, second place went to Makanakaishe Charamba with 20"27.
The semi-finals take place on Wednesday from 8.05pm.
«I would have liked to do better but the important thing was to finish in the top three. The drums were very fast but I need to improve a little. I can't wait to make the semi-final and I will definitely try to do better,” said Tortu.
