After the great success of the New Year's Eve in the Square, the Municipality of Orosei, led by the mayor Elisa Farris, in collaboration with the Pro Loco Association, closes the programming on the occasion of the Christmas holidays with three important appointments that will enliven the holidays of the many tourists who have chosen the Barony area to spend the winter holidays, particularly appreciated for the mild climate and the possibility of enjoying the beaches and all the environmental and landscape beauties offered by the area.

This evening, Thursday 5 January, at 7 pm in the Auditorium della Finanza Vetza, an exceptional concert with the Janas Saxophone Ensemble, a group of eight saxophones and percussions founded by the virtuoso and teacher Dario Balzan and active in the most important festivals thanks to a repertoire of great enjoyment articulated in arrangements of famous melodies and immortal masterpieces written for this fascinating instrument that is enjoying success and acclaim among young and old.

Coming from the Bologna Conservatory and from the Dams of the Emilian capital where he studied and graduated brilliantly, Balzan has played under the guidance of great conductors, such as Pretre, Abbado, Berio, Gergiev and Inbal, collaborating with various orchestras including the Orchestras of St. Petersburg, the Verdi of Trieste and Turin, and that of the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza.

From 1994 to 2003 he was on the staff of the Rai National Symphony Orchestra of Turin, one of the most important in the world.

Winner of numerous competitions in Italy, for chamber music he has collaborated with various musicians and composers including Salvatore Sciarrino, Giovanni Bonato, Federico Zattera, Renato Maioli and in various formations including the "New Reeds Saxophone Quartet", with which he performed , together with the Orchestra of the Accademia Musicale of Schio, the Concerto for saxophone quartet and orchestra by Philip Glass.

The children's choir "Sottovoce" from Onifai and the all-female vocal ensemble "Urisè" from Orosei will perform at the opening, both directed by Daniela Contu.

For the Befana concert dedicated to the repertoire for the little ones with the San Giacomo children's choir scheduled from 6 pm at the Church of San Giacomo, while from 7 pm the children will be the protagonists with games and moments of aggregation that will also involve the Ukrainian guests arrived in the city last year due to the Russian invasion.

Last appointment on Saturday 7 January at 17 with the second edition of "Tenorosei", an event dedicated to popular music, traditional songs in Tenore and Cuncordu and rap contamination with the performance of the historic group Menhir and the young talents Giacomo Vardeu, Filippo Mureddu, Samuele Dessena, Luca Musio, Salvatore Contu and Davide Nanni.

Not only music during the event: the tasting of new wines and the awarding by a commission of oenologists of the best wines that wanted to compete in the context of the competition dedicated to the most important wine productions of the area and of the entire island are planned.

At the end, a chestnut party in the square and fundraising for the Speedy Sport Association, which deals with the sporting practice of special kids, to round off a program of events that opened in 2023 under the best auspices.
