Daniele Livieri isn't disappointed by the point he earned against Palmese on his debut as Olbia coach. "It was tough, but in the end we brought home a result that, given the situation, is definitely positive," the coach exulted after yesterday's 0-0 draw at the Nespoli stadium in the relegation battle on Matchday 3 of the second half of Serie D.
“It was a challenging debut. The team missed some training sessions during the week, the squad is short, and with the pitch heavy with rain, we struggled until the last minute. But our attitude was right, and we overcame the fatigue,” adds the 44-year-old Piedmontese, in his first experience as head coach in Serie D.
"There wasn't time to make any changes to the lineup. In the few days I had to prepare for the match, I was interested in working on the players' motivation, which they already had, but starting Tuesday, we'll see if we can start doing something," Livieri added, buoyed by the announcement made on Friday by Ninni Corda, the Gallura club's technical director, regarding the new signings arriving this week.
"Palmese is a great team, and that makes the point worthwhile. In the first half, we had two clear one-on-one chances with the goalkeeper, and we started well in the second, but we need to work and improve," concluded the coach of the Whites, who remain fourth-bottom in the standings with 21 points, five points shy of relegation. In the next round, they'll face Atletico Lodigiani away, who yesterday in Sassari against Latte Dolce secured their third consecutive win and are undefeated since November 16th.
