Metal sounds are at the heart of a new evening of alternative music in the capital, with occult influences from beyond the Tyrrhenian Sea: the autumn season at Cagliari 's Fabrik continues, which this Friday hosts the island premiere of the Catania quartet Demon Spell . Gates open at 9 p.m. at the venue on Via Mameli 216 , with the touring band preceded on stage by the reunion show of Abduction , "champions" of Cagliari thrash metal returning to the scene after a three-year artistic hiatus.
Formed around 2023 in the city of Etna, Demon Spell was born from the ashes of historic Sicilian bands and still see various active roles for some of the members: starting with the singer Federico "Fano" Indelicato , formerly of Warcryer, Noble Savage and Denied and now part of Spreadin' Fear, then moving on to the guitarist Francesco Bauso , formerly of Haunted, and the bassist Riccardo "Sixx" Liberti , also formerly of Warcryer, Noble Savage and Denied and currently also working with Epistheme and Thrash Bombz, to close with the drummer – and songwriter – Dario Casabona , who in addition to his current activity with Griefbringer has also played in the bands Winged, Heretical, Schizo and Winged.
Adepts of a dark and ritualistic heavy metal , which takes full advantage of the retro aesthetics of speed metal and the New Wave of British Heavy Metal , Demon Spell made their debut with the self-produced extended-play " Evil Nights " (2024), which attracted the attention of the Italian underground scene and led them to sign with Dying Victims Productions , a German label specialized in old-school metal. Returning this year with an even darker and more theatrical sound evolution , always in the name of suggestions such as evil, horror and the occult, Demon Spell thus land in the capital to present the new, acclaimed " Blessed Be the Dark ": recorded and mixed by Giacomo Iannaci and mastered by Jack Control , the studio debut also sees the contribution of guests Vittorio Blanco (organ) and Max Varani (effects), with the album artwork signed by guitarist Bauso himself.
