NZEB: a conscious choice for the PAs

The energy transition also involves making public buildings more efficient and in the coming years, public administrations will be called upon to make their own contribution. In this sense, the European Commission has been clear: from 1 January 2027, all new buildings occupied or owned by the PA will have to be NZEB . The acronym stands for Nearly Zero Energy Building, i.e. buildings that guarantee high energy performance and use energy produced from renewable sources to cover energy needs. A virtuous example of public administration that has made an informed choice and embarked on the path of Nearly Zero Energy Buildings is San Mauro Torinese , where Enel X is carrying out a cutting-edge project on 40 public buildings (including the town hall, churches and schools of various levels ) which will allow the Piedmontese municipality to reduce overall consumption and, consequently, to reduce CO2 emissions by around 320 tons per year.
