" The waste dump will not be in Sardinia and we will not allow it to be in Sardinia, which has already paid from an environmental point of view. Sardinia is not the landfill of Italy . Here it will be very complicated for the Minister of the Environment to even propose it". These are the words of Alessandra Todde, President of the Sardinia Region, on the sidelines of the Convention "Energies and Transition Confartigianato High School" opened today in Chia.

"When I was at the ministry, for example, I financed a project on fission: there is no ideological preclusion ," he continued. "We want to understand well what the real and industrial issues of this technology are, because there is so much talk about it but the fourth-generation reactors at this time are not yet industrial and the mini-reactors are not yet available."

According to Todde, "if at this moment the alternative is third-generation reactors - already seen in France and Germany, which Germany is decommissioning - it is certainly not the path we would like to take. Having said that, technology is moving forward: we do not have ideological preclusions, but we pay great attention to how waste is managed and how waste is handled ."
