The 43rd edition of the “La Notte dei Poeti” Festival kicks off this evening at 8:00 p.m., scheduled to take place in the evocative setting of the archaeological area of Nora until July 27. The event, organized by Cedac, chaired by Antonio Cabiddu and directed by Valeria Ciabattoni, will be inaugurated by the show “Paul McCartney and the Beatles/Two Legends” with Gianmarco Tognazzi, narrator, and the Duo Saverio Mercadante, formed by Rocco Debernardis on the clarinet and Leo Binetti on the piano, an intense and exciting piece to rediscover the lively cultural and artistic climate of the British capital in the Sixties and the music of the Fab Four.
In the role of one of the four boys from Liverpool, who with their songs marked an era, Sir James Paul McCartney, eclectic singer-songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist and record producer, a famous son of art of the calibre of Gianmarco Tognazzi , actor of cinema, TV, theatre, television host and much more, Hystrio Award “Altre Muse” in 2000 and Best Supporting Actor for Ex by Fausto Brizzi at the “Primavera del Cinema Italiano” Award in 2009, who lends his face and voice to the author of unforgettable songs, from “Yesterday” and “Michelle”, “Eleanor Rigby” and “Yellow Submarine”, and also “Penny Lane” and “She's Leaving Home”, “Lady Madonna” and “Hey Jude”, “Get Back” and the iconic “Let It Be”.
On the notes of some of the most significant songs, Gianmarco Tognazzi recalls the dazzling rise of the pop-rock and beat band that became a phenomenon of mass communication and the symbol of a generation , from its beginnings to international success, also focusing on some episodes such as the "mirages" and fake news about the four now legendary artists. In the Third Millennium, Paul McCartney continues his solo career, after the breakup of the Beatles and the parenthesis of Wings, until 2024 when he releases the album "Band on the Run 50th Anniversary Edition": after the pandemic, the singer, bassist and composer has started touring the world again, with the 59 dates of his Got Back Tour.
The Festival “La Notte dei Poeti”, the longest-running on the island, will continue throughout the month with many unmissable proposals and treats , from one of the most established Italian directors, co-founder of the Laboratorio Teatro Settimo and one of the creators of narrative theatre, Gabriele Vacis, who signs the mise en scène of “Antigone ei suoi fratelli” with the actors of the young company PoEM/Potenziali Evocati Multimediali, for a contemporary reinterpretation of the ancient tragedy, to Federica Rosellini, eclectic actress, musician and performer, protagonist of the cruel fable of “Ivan ei cani” about the adventures of a boy in Russia in the nineties, in a climate of poverty and desperation, where the only refuge becomes a pack of strays.
But also interesting musical projects such as “The Kings of Blues” who land in Nora for an unmissable concert : on stage the amazing ensemble formed by Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne, Blues Grammy 2024 as best pianist, with Vasti Jackson, singer-songwriter and guitarist from New Orleans, Waldo Weathers, saxophonist of James Brown's band, as well as Russell Jackson and Tony Coleman, respectively bassist and drummer of BB King's band, for an evening between the biting irony and the poignant melancholy of the “devil's music”.
Meanwhile, tomorrow, Sunday 6 July, again at 8 pm, “Il romanzo della Bibbia” will be performed, curated by Corvino Produzioni and CTB / Centro Teatrale Bresciano , a passionate and engaging journey through the fundamental sacred texts for the three monotheistic religions in the company of the journalist and writer Aldo Cazzullo, fresh from the great success on TV on La7 with the highly followed programme “Una giornata particolari,” and the actor and singer, playwright and director Moni Ovadia, to the notes of the virtuoso cello of Giovanna Famulari, to rediscover emblematic events and characters of Western culture (and beyond).
A fascinating narrative focused on the figures and stories of the Old Testament, from the Creation to the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, from Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden to the universal flood with the construction of Noah's Ark, from the patriarch Abraham and the search for the promised land to the prophecy of Isaiah that foretells and allows us to glimpse the arrival of the Messiah.
In “The Novel of the Bible”, Aldo Cazzullo ideally leafs through some of the most significant pages of a monumental work, in a recital enriched by readings and songs but also by the interventions of Moni Ovadia, a profound connoisseur of Jewish culture, on the soundtrack curated by the musician and composer Giovanna Famulari, between sacred and profane melodies.
