Once the counting was concluded, the definitive data of the twenty-one Monserratine sections were outlined. It will therefore be a run-off between the outgoing mayor Tomaso Locci and Valentina Picciau, former opposition municipal councilor in the recently concluded council.

Locci, supported by a coalition of three civic lists, obtained 3805 votes, while the challenger Picciau, at the head of a team made up of three civic lists plus the 5 Star Movement, received 2043 preferences. In percentage terms, Locci was voted for by 40.20% of voters; Picciau, however, from 21.58%.

The other two mayoral candidates who failed to go to the ballot are Alberto Corda and Efisio Sanna. The former obtained 1842 votes (19.46%), while the latter obtained 1776, corresponding to 18.76% of the preferences.

The list with the most votes overall is Monserrato Libera (20.06%) which supports Locci, followed by the Democratic Party - in support of Sanna - which instead obtained 11.04%. As regards the councilor candidates, the most voted is the outgoing Saverio De Roma, candidate with Monserrato Libera: he obtained 400 preferences. Immediately after, Franca Cicotto follows, from the Ora Sardegna list, part of Efisio Sanna's coalition: she got 352 votes.
