With only two polling stations remaining for the Sestu mayoral candidate, Michele Cossa announced his victory in the first round with 54% of the vote. A few minutes before 9:00 PM, he showed up at his office on Via Mongolfier to be greeted by his staff.
The next mayor of Sestu Cossa thanked everyone who supported him, noting that all regional leaders, including President Alessandra Todde, had rallied behind the center-left, but also that the victory came with two center-right lists that together garnered just over 8% of the vote.

"This result was far from a foregone conclusion," he said. "It was a difficult campaign. There were two lists to my right: the entire regional power was involved. This is an important personal achievement, because mayoral elections always involve a strong personal component. But it's also the result of the great teamwork we did with the coalition."
