Marc Marquez doesn't give up one and after the fall in the long race in Austin he returned to Qatar to act as a cannibal, taking pole position, sprint race and grand prix. But unlike other times, the Spaniard from Ducati had to deal with various complicated situations, from the collision suffered by his brother Alex at the start to the tenacious resistance of Maverick Vinales, who after leading for part of the race crossed the finish line in second place on the Ktm-Tech 3. Due to irregular tire pressure, the stewards sanctioned the Spaniard with a 16-second penalty, making him slip to 14th place and so Francesco Bagnaia went from third to second on the podium, where an excellent Franco Morbidelli also climbed with the Ducati VR46.
The bad moment for the reigning world champion, Jorge Martin, continues, having fallen towards the end of the race and taken to hospital for a suspected pneumothorax.
The victory, his 65th in the MotoGP class, but also his first in Qatar since 2014, allows the champion from Cervera to extend his lead in the world championship standings with 123 points, 17 more than his brother Alex, today only seventh, and 26 more than a growing Bagnaia.
Contrary to other races, Marquez senior started cautiously from pole position, explaining his choice as follows: "I told you I had to manage the front tyre, that's why I stayed calm during the first part of the race. Then I started to push harder, but I was surprised when Maverick passed me, and he was really fast."
The surprise lasted the time it took to get the hang of it, then came the blow and from that moment on Marquez controlled the race, giving Vinales no hope of being able to mend the gap.
We are waiting to know more about the conditions of the unfortunate Martin, who after falling in the race while he was in the back row was involuntarily hit by the bike of Fabio Di Giannantonio who was following him. Remaining on the ground, the world champion was taken to the medical center of the circuit and then transferred to the hospital for tests. He has no problems with his limbs, Aprilia said, but he suffered a chest trauma that will be evaluated.
