The Genoa player, Manolo Portanova, was sentenced to 6 years by the judge for the preliminary hearings of the Court of Siena for group sexual violence in relation to the abuse of a girl in an apartment in the historic centre. The fact took place on the night between 30 and 31 May 2021. The footballer's uncle was also sentenced to the same sentence.

Both had chosen the abbreviated procedure. The third suspect, who instead opted for the ordinary procedure, was indicted at the end of the preliminary hearing.

Manolo Portanova personally attended the hearing, which is taking place behind closed doors, next to his defenders. The investigating judge Ilaria Cornetti has accepted all the requests of the prosecution, supported by the prosecutor Nicola Marini, against Manolo Portanova.

In addition to the 6-year sentence, the judge also sentenced him to a provisional payment of 100,000 euros in favor of the girl he abused, another 20,000 euros to the mother of the same young woman and a further 10,000 euros to the Sienese association Donna calls Donna who has filed a civil action.
