The Municipality of Macomer , in collaboration with the International Center of Comics, remembers the figure of the artist Ennio Zedda , born in Macomer in 1910 and died in Rome in 1993. Many characters were born from his pencil, including Mariella and the Fratellini, La Piccola Italiana, Arturino, Carolina and many others.

In addition to the prize named after him, "When drawing became art", established by the municipal administration in 2011, the artist will be remembered on Friday morning in an event that will take place at the intermodal center, thanks to the Maart City Heart association, coordinated by the councilor for culture, Gianfranco Congiu, with the participation of Bepi Vigna, of the international center of comics, Antonello Cuccu, of the Lisso publishing house, and Anna Maria Cabras, of the Arteficio association.

«Our primary objective – explains the councilor Gianfranco Congiu – is to divulge the work of Ennio Zedda, to promote his study and to collect his works and testimony on his activity and his life . Friday's event intends to introduce young people to the great tradition that Sardinia boasts in the field of applied graphics, encouraging a constant comparison between the island's artists and illustrators from other countries. However, it is our desire to draw attention, especially of the new generations, to the stature of the artist, a true forerunner of the times, whose artistic trait has gone beyond the times, reaching up to us».

Ennio Zedda moved with his family to Cagliari as a child, where at the age of 15 he began working as a decorator. After various collaborations with local magazines and the creation of billboards, in 1930 he left for Rome, where he collaborated with Tribuna Illustrata and then with "Il Balilla" and "Piccola Italiana", which were the children's magazines during Fascism.

After five years, the award named after him returns. The appointment is at 10.30 on Friday at the Intermodal Centre.
