Young Sardinians less and less entrepreneurs.
On the island, the so-called "youth businesses" , i.e. businesses led by a majority of owners or partners who are under 35, are decreasing: -7.3% in 2022 compared to the 2019 figure. This was revealed by a survey carried out by the Chamber of Commerce of Umbria on Infocamere-Unioncamere data. The phenomenon recorded in Sardinia follows the national trend , where as at 31 December 2022 there were 522,088 registered youth businesses, with significant reductions compared to previous years: -15 thousand 829 on 2021 (-3.4%) and as much as -38 thousand 793 on 2019 ( -9.9%). The drop is even more marked if the comparison period is extended: a decade ago, in 2011, there were 697,000 youth businesses in Italy, so in the period 2011-2022 they disappeared without being replaced, 174,914 (-25.1% ). At the regional level, the most negative numbers are found in the South: Puglia -7.3%, Basilicata -8.5%, Campania -9.2%, Abruzzo -11%, Sicily -11.8% and Calabria -13%.
In juvenile enterprises sole proprietorships prevail by far and over 25% work in commerce, 12% in construction, 11% in catering and 10% in agriculture.
